Kids Kollege 2008 schedule:
The daily schedule is as follows:
8:15- 8:30 a.m. Orientation (Monday only)
8:30- 9:30 a.m. Class #1
9:30- 9:40 a.m. Break/change classes
9:40-10:40 a.m. Class #2
10:40-11:00 a.m. Break*
11:00-12:00 noon Class #3
*Children may bring money to purchase snacks and/or drinks from the vending area during the 10:40-11:00 break.
In order to maintain quality and enjoyment, KIDS KOLLEGE classes will be limited to an average of 15-18 per class.
KIDS KOLLEGE 2008 CLASSES & STAFF
SLIME TIME, T. J. Bower: Ooey-gooey slime!!! Find out why slugs, snails, worms, frogs and salamanders are slimey! Are they slimy on the inside, too? You'll find out when they are dissected and then you'll make your own ooey-gooey slime to take home!!!
TREASURES FROM THE DEEP, Jami Wallen: Sea shells, fish, hidden treasures...you never know what you'll find "under the sea", but Jami will help you discover all kinds of treasurers! Come dive into the depths. Create your very own take-home treasures!
KOMPUTERZ 4 KIDZ, Dana Muse: This hands-on educational class will include computer basics, graphics, pictures and more. Have fun while you increase your knowledge of the computer and its capabilities. For those with some computer knowledge, a more advanced approach will be used. Kids must have completed 1st grade in order to take this class.)
TENNIS, Sean Ayers: The basic skills of tennis are taught--for eye-hand coordination, competitiveness and fun. The class will include rules, mini-tennis fundamentals, and shot production. For those with some tennis skills, an intermediate approach will be used.
FINE ART, Shannon Maisel: Students will create two projects based on artwork from artists in history as indicated: Session #1: Drawing and Printing: It’s not all black and white. We will look at artwork by Jean-Michel Basquiat and Ghada Amer. Session #2: Color: How Complimentary of You! We will explore the use of color in art, creating projects based on the work of Pop Artist Andy Warhol, and Op Artist Bridget Riley. Session #3: Pattern Painting: Bold is Beautiful, using both line and color, we will explore the beauty of pattern, examining the artwork from aboriginal Australia as well as Pattern Painters like Joyce Kozloff. Images used will be age appropriate.
I WANT TO PLAY … Mom & Dad won't let me ... Jordan Gossett & Kenny Huges: As one of our most requested classes, we're back with a variety of organized sports and games, with emphasis being placed on rules and sportsmanship. New games … new challenges, but as always, you win some; you lose some. Dress for Mess!
June 23-26 only - MAC ATTACK: LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING, Donna Eastham & Cindy Burton: Come explore the world of photo manipulation utilizing Macintosh computers. Students will have the opportunity to use digital cameras, upload pictures to the computer and then use Photoshop to manipulate the photographs. We will use a variety of methods used by designers who work with Photoshop on a daily basis. The class will be held on SCC’s South Campus, Building 2, Room 225 in the Visual Communications Department. This class is part of Kids Kollege; however, students who enroll in this class will participate in this class ONLY from 8:30-12:30 Monday through Thursday. The cost of the class is $75, and enrollment is limited to the first 16 who register and pay.
