SCC Theatre Outreach Programs

Teen Theatre

SCC Theatre sponsors the Teen Theatre. This group of high school age students takes part in weekly meetings to engage in theatre activities and annually produce a play production. Past productions include such improvisational works as The Dream Machine, The Space Machine and The Time Machine, as well as a full-scale musical production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. In 2004, SCC's Teen Theatre presented The Kentucky Marriage Proposal at the Teen Theatre Festival.

Reader's Theatre

The Reader's Theatre Company is designed to give individuals who wish to get performance and technical experience the opportunity to do so in the informal arena of reader's theatre. The company is made up of a panel of play readers and fledgling directors, technicians and actors who give free public performances.

The Teen Theatre Festival

On the last Saturday in February, SCC Theatre will host the Teen Theatre Festival. Area high schools and middle schools are invited to perform monologues, musical numbers, and scene cuttings for awards. The Festival will also feature workshops in acting, improvisation and technical theatre.

Story Book Theatre

Workshops will turn well-known stories into dramatic presentations in the classroom. Students learn how to communicate and present themselves more effectively.

Classroom Workshops

SCC Theatre offers classroom workshops in all aspects of theatre. Past workshops have covered performance basics, the World of Shakespeare, Creative Dramatics, Careers in Theatre and even Greek Theatre for 5th Graders.
