Ombudsperson Office
The SCC Ombudsperson Office is made up of an Ombuds Peer Team which serves as mediators to help solve problems and promote harmony between and among students, faculty, staff, and administration.
If possible, you should deal with the instructor, supervisor, or other college personnel yourself. Usually these people are very helpful, BUT If this is threatening or otherwise difficult, contact the appropriate Ombuds Peer Team representative. We can offer nonbonding, confidential conflict resolution by means of mediation and persuasion.
Possible situations where a member of the Ombuds Peer Team might be useful:
- A perception of unfair treatment on campus.
- A perception of harassment or abuse of any kind.
- A perception of unfair application of college policies or rules.
- A situation requiring mediation and/or conflict resolution.
- A situation which relates to reasonable accommodation for special needs.
- A situation which relates to safety.
- Relaying of ideas both positive and negative that seemingly do not
pass to appropriate levels.
Helping persons determine the pathways to follow in formal
proceedings.
