Pre-Licensing & Certification Programs

HVAC Freon Certification

This course will help you in successfully passing the Kentucky’s Freon Certification exam. This certification allows HVAC personnel to purchase Freon.

Insurance

Somerset Community College is an approved provider for the State of Kentucky to offer the required 40 hours for pre-licensing for Life & Health and Property & Casualty agents.

SCC offers classroom and self-study opportunities to prepare the student to take the state license exam.

Participants attending either of these schools are awarded college credit for their attendance. In addition, the school of insurance provides mandated continuing education for licensed agents. All programs are administered through the Community, Workforce and Economic Development Department.

Journeyman and Master HVAC License

Each of these two separate courses will help you in successfully passing Kentucky’s license exam for HVAC Journeyman or Master License. A series of lectures, discusses and presentations pertaining to HVAC safety and OSHA rules and regulations will be covered.

Plumbing License

This course is delivered by the professionals from Kentucky’s Division of Plumbing. This 36 hour course will help prepare you for the Kentucky’s licensure plumbing exam.

Welding Certification

This course hones the participant’s skills in the art of welding.  This course covers SMAW (Arc welding) and GMAW (Mig welding) in all positions. Basic GTAW (Tig welding) will also be introduced.  Knowledge of basic welding is required before taking this advanced level course.  The course will help prepare you for the ASE Welding Certification Test.
